Data center development must be heavily regulated to protect the environment and property value of those living near a potential site. Property tax abatements and sales tax exemptions need to be re-examined so townships and municipalities are not taken advantage of financially. Data center development must be transparent and public officials should work to protect their constituents, not the developers.
